Author James Clear said, in his book Atomic Habits, that “you don’t rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems.” We all need to create habits for success.

First and foremost, if you haven’t read Atomic Habits, I highly recommend picking it up!

But, since we’ve been talking about the RADD process for success in dealing with the coronavirus crisis [Get RADD And Plan For Success Following Coronavirus Crisis] I started to think about what this meant for the public relations industry.

Translated to the public relations world, this boils down to having a plan for your communications.

If you’ve watched any of my videos or read these posts, you know I preach about planning and being prepared.

But to tie it back to Atomic Habits, your communication plans ARE your habits. Not having a plan is like knowing you want to succeed and just wishing you would accomplish something without actually putting the habits, or plans, in place to succeed.

Clear also said “habits are the entry point” for a desired behavior or outcome. And as we’ve said before, any successful journey starts with a roadmap and entry point.

It doesn’t need to be a perfect plan, but you need to know where you’re going before you can work on getting there.

So my advice for everyone is put the habits in place to reach your goals. Take the time to create the strategic plans, establish your “habits” and create that roadmap for success.

The RADD Process

As I mentioned, we’ve also been discussing how we find success following the Coronavirus crisis through the RADD approach, which is Recognize, Adapt, Develop, and Deploy. Check out our previous posts to see how you can succeed with the RADD process:
